Parenting, especially of chronically ill children, is an immense challenge, often leading to exhaustion and isolation. This post emphasizes the importance of community support, offering guidelines on how friends can help, such as learning about the child’s condition, providing breaks, and respecting parental struggles. Acknowledging ongoing challenges, it encourages empathy and genuine connection.
2019 Update
David’s journey with FIRES marks two years of challenges, particularly with Phenobarbital, which he is beginning to wean off due to its side effects. Transitioning to Depakote has been successful so far, with no seizures reported. Despite hospital stays being disliked, the exceptional care at Nicklaus Children’s has made a positive impact.
