David Fighting F.I.R.E.S.

6 1/2 Years With FIRES

Hello all! It has been 2 1/2 years since I last updated on this website. I apologize for that, but please know that we are updating on Facebook more often. If you are looking to keep up with us, just look up David Fighting FIRES on Facebook, and 365_days_for_David on both Facebook and Instagram. The latter is a campaign we started on January 26th of this year to pray and declare healing over David.

So why haven’t I updated in the past 2 1/2 years? Well, a lot of life has gone on. We built a house, I got a new job, and I’ve been homeschooling my children. In addition, David has had some difficulties that we didn’t foresee. In May of last year he had a seizure that resulted in a seizure injury- the fall jammed 4 of his front teeth into his sinus cavity (one was all the way up by his nose) and he had to have surgery to remove them. In addition, where his MRIs in the past have been normal, now he has developed brain atrophy. As a result of the atrophy, David has been experiencing some psychiatric difficulties. As I said, this isn’t something we foresaw, but we serve a God who knows all, and we are trusting Him for a miracle- thus our campaign for prayer.

Seizures have also increased since David hit puberty. This year alone David has had 57 seizures. Again, this is something we are contending for in prayer. He now has a wheelchair that he uses when he’s experiencing seizure clusters, as it is much safer than walking.

Other than that (which is a lot- I know), things have been good. Our family loves our new house, which we built with David’s seizures in mind. We have extra thick padding under the bedroom carpets in case of seizures, and the halls are extra wide so David’s wheelchair has enough room for him to maneuver. It has been such a great change for our family.

We’ve also been attending service dog training. We don’t have a dog yet, but we’re hoping for our perfect match!

David was granted a wish by the Dreams Come True Foundation. Starting Sunday we will be staying at Give Kids The World and enjoying Disney, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. We’re very excited to have some family time.

I’ll leave you all with a few photos so you can see how tall David has gotten! He is taller than me now!
